Mercedes-Benz new powerful EV charging stations

Making fast and convenient charging a global reality for electric vehicle owners

As the race to transition from fossil fuels to clean energy sources intensifies, Mercedes-Benz is taking decisive action. The company recently announced its plans to open its first high-power charging stations in the fall of 2023. The global network, beginning with hubs in Atlanta, Chengdu, and Mannheim, aims to redefine the electric vehicle (EV) charging experience, making it faster, more accessible, and more pleasant for users.

“We firmly believe that electric mobility is the key to a sustainable, zero-emission future,”

Franz Reiner, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Mobility AG.

Expanding the global footprint of EV charging

The German automotive giant plans to ramp up its charging network to over 2,000 high-power points by the end of 2024, with a long-term vision of creating more than 10,000 high-power chargers by the end of the decade. This strategic expansion aims to fortify the company’s electrification strategy while making fast-charging solutions more widely available.

Unmatched charging speeds for every user

Mercedes-Benz promises a seamless and efficient charging experience with rates currently up to 400 kW, thanks to intelligent charging management. Regardless of the vehicle’s make or model, the new charging stations will allow each vehicle to charge at its maximum power rating, minimizing downtime.

Not just a station, but an experience

Customer comfort is also a priority in the design and location of the new charging stations. These hubs will be located at key traffic areas and selected Mercedes-Benz dealerships. The stations will offer amenities such as refreshments and restrooms, while also ensuring safety through surveillance cameras and intelligent lighting solutions.

Open network, special benefits

This expansive network is not exclusive to Mercedes-Benz owners. However, customers of the brand will enjoy perks like the ability to reserve a charging point via the Mercedes-Benz me Charge service. The company’s charging stations will be integrated into the existing network, complementing the 1.3 million charging points already accessible globally.

Charged with sustainability

In keeping with its “Ambition 2039” sustainability strategy, Mercedes-Benz aims to source 100% of the electricity for its charging network from renewable sources. This furthers the company’s commitment to a cleaner, more sustainable future.
