Productivity and connectivity: A closer look at the all-new E-Transit Courier from Ford Pro

Ford Pro has announced the release of the E-Transit Courier, a brand new, all-electric commercial vehicle aimed at boosting Ford Pro’s connected and electrified cargo van fleet.

E-Transit Courier is a fully integrated commercial electric vehicle that can deliver end-to-end charging solutions and management tools from Ford Pro Software. The van has been designed around a significantly larger, more flexible cargo area, which offers 25% more load volume than its predecessor.

The E-Transit Courier is part of Ford’s $50 billion+ global push to lead the EV revolution, and the next step as the company electrifies its iconic Transit family of commercial vehicles, joining the larger E-Transit and E-Transit Custom models in the Ford Pro portfolio.

All-electric productivity and charging solutions

The E-Transit Courier’s all-electric powertrain has been engineered to deliver an uncompromised driving experience for customers, including a powerful 100 kW motor and one-pedal driving capability. Full performance and range details will be confirmed closer to launch.

To boost productivity, Ford Pro Charging offers an end-to-end solution for home, depot, and public charging. This includes hardware installation and management software to optimize the charging process. Simplified billing and administration via Ford Pro Charging software supports businesses whose drivers take their work vehicle home, as well as streamlining public charging.

Ford Pro expects E-Transit Courier to be popular with customers who charge at home, targeting an 11 kW AC overnight home charge in 5.7 hours, and charging can be scheduled to take advantage of cheaper overnight energy using the in-vehicle touchscreen or depot charging software.

The vehicle offers DC fast charge capability up to 100 kW. Ford expects the system to add 87 km of range in 10 minutes, and charge from 10-80% in less than 35 minutes. E-Transit Courier also comes with a year of complimentary access to the BlueOval Charge Network, which is set to include 500,000 public chargers by 2024.

Customer-focused design

E-Transit Courier’s all-new body design delivers increased load capacity in all dimensions. The width between the rear wheel arches is 1,220 mm, allowing the van to carry two Euro pallets for the first time. Total cargo volume is now 2.9 m3, which is 25% more than the outgoing model. This can be further increased using the new load-through bulkhead, which allows items up to 3.0 m in length to be loaded while maintaining a flat load floor.

The van also has an improved gross vehicle weight of 2,000 kg, which is 300 kg more than the outgoing model, enabling customers to transport even more cargo.

The E-Transit Courier is designed to offer customers a comfortable and functional workspace. The interior features a new center console that can be configured to suit the customer’s needs. The console includes a convenient wireless charging pad for smartphones and other devices, as well as a variety of storage options.

Safety and technology features

The E-Transit Courier comes with a range of safety features to help protect drivers and cargo. These include Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, which uses sensors to detect potential collisions and alert the driver, and Lane-Keeping System, which helps keep the vehicle centered in its lane.

The van also comes with Ford Pro’s advanced technology features, including FordPass Connect, which allows drivers to monitor and manage their vehicle remotely. The system also includes an integrated modem, which provides a Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 10 devices.

Other features include SYNC 4 with voice recognition and an 8-inch touchscreen, as well as Ford Pro Telematics, which provides real-time data on the vehicle’s location, speed, and fuel consumption.

Ford’s global push towards electrification

With a larger, more flexible cargo area, an increased payload capacity, and innovative charging solutions, the E-Transit Courier is set to be a game-changer for commercial van customers.

The van’s customer-focused design, advanced safety features, and cutting-edge technology make it an attractive option for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint and improve their productivity. The E-Transit Courier is the latest addition to Ford’s global push towards electrification and the next step in the company’s iconic Transit family of commercial vehicles.
