The birth of Bluesky

In 2019, Twitter announced its intention to fund a project that would create an open and decentralized standard for social media, which later became known as Bluesky. Since then, the Bluesky community has been working together to understand the decentralized web ecosystem and outline the core tenets of what an open protocol for social media should include and the technologies on which it should be built. Bluesky PBLLC was formed at the end of 2021 to pursue this mission.
